When thinking about a brand what is the first thing that comes to mind? Here are some common examples of graphic design you see in your daily life
Logos:
This form of graphic design is so common that people often forget that there is a process to making and designing each logo. Some companies use of graphic design is so frequent that you can recognize the brand without even seeing the name. A quick example is if I asked you what were the logos of Starbucks and Nike, they would come to mind instantly. These two companies are so successful in marketing their logos that they are some of the only brands that took their name out of the logo because it is so recognizable on its own that everyone knows what it is referring to. This is the perfect example of how people have become so inundated with different types of graphic design in everyday life without ever realizing it.
Websites:
All companies use graphic design when creating their websites. Every website's layout is uniquely designed using the principles of design. This includes careful consideration of where the text will be placed, along with the size, color, and font it will be. Not only that, images or graphics also need to be meticulously chosen and designed. Designing websites involves a lot of reasoning behind every simple action and placement all for the purpose of obtaining the viewers’ attention.
Packaging:
The first thing that usually comes to mind when somebody refers to packaging are literal packages that one gets from Amazon or FedEx, while this is a form of packaging this is just a small portion of all the packages. Packages are the final form of marketing that companies use to entice consumers to buy their product which is why so many major companies put so much money and care into their packaging. almost every protect comes in a package, from shoes to cereal to candy to furniture. Packages also are not only boxes they can be bags, pouches, cans, or even bottles.
Advertisements:
Advertisements are the quickest way to draw a consumer in and the success of the ad relies on the graphic designs that were used. Whether it be scrolling on your phone, walking down the street seeing a poster, or driving down the highway seeing a 20-foot billboard, graphics are what catch one's attention. Sometimes all it takes is an image to get the viewer hooked and wanting to purchase or participate in whatever the advertisement is promoting. A lot of the time the consumer does not even know they want a specific product until they see it because when you want to buy something, what is the first thing you look for? Images and designs! The colors, the quality, the carefully crafted graphic specially designed for its target audience gets their foot through the door.
Book covers:
They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but let's face it, we all do, especially when it comes to buying books. Graphic design plays a huge part in how well a book could sell. You are drawn to the things you like, so if the book cover looks well done and thought out then it is likely you’ll be more inclined to buy it. Getting the design right for that is so important because the book might be amazing, but if the cover doesn’t interest the audience, it will not be successful. As the audience you also don’t want to be misled, thinking you bought a mystery book for it to end up being a romance novel would not leave you feeling too thrilled.
