Dìa De Los Muertos Collection
The prompt for this design was to create a poster for an event that I thought of. Then I made a mockup for that poster to show how it would look in the real world. The event I made was a Dìa De Los Muertos Concierto. After researching the topic I knew that the main elements I needed to incorporate were a mariachi band to show off the live music element. I also needed to add the marigolds because they are seen everywhere throughout day of the dead events. Lastly, I needed to add a Monarch butterfly because they symbolize the souls loved ones returning. Other details I thought to add for more detail were a tombstone with the date on it, a skeleton hand coming through the ground to add the undead effect, and the night time with the moon directly behind the main focal point. Another detail I added was that all of the text on the designs for this event were written in Spanish.
For the next three designs I created instagram posts that would promote the event. I am only showing the mockup of this design since the same mockup was used for all and it makes it easier to see the design in itself. In this design I created an alter that resembles the ones that are traditionally created for the day of the dead. It has the key elements I found on most alters, this being the marigolds, tribute to past loved ones, and food. It also has the event's information on it. For the Instagram page mockup I created a fake Instagram account with a caption in Spanish.
This designs shows off another event that would be occurring at day of the dead concert, and this event would be a food truck competition. In this design I tried to capture the aesthetic of the day of the dead. To do this I tried to make it as bright and vibrant as I could. I accomplished this by using bright colors for all my designs on this food truck while incorporating neon into a few of them. This allows the designs to stand-out from the pure black background.
This design incorporates two of my focuses from the poster, the monarch and marigolds. In this design it emphasizes the symbolisem of what the monarch stands for by having the caption that translates to "welcome home" and is written out with marigold flowers.
